The Gospel of Matthew

Read through the entire book of Matthew. There are no reading questions this week like with Mark. However, there is an assignment that concentrates on three specific stories in Matthew and helps with understanding how to read the Gospel narratives.

Memory Verse:
Matthew 28:18-20
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Matthew 28:18-20 is known as the Great Commission. Jesus commissioned his original disciples to go into all the world to make disciples. As present-day followers of Jesus, we are called to do the same.
